ACADEMIC PROGRAMS
Coming Fall, 2012!
CCSI is in the process of negotiating an academic partnership that will enable us to offer the following programs beginning Fall, 2012:
Piper Certificate in Christian Studies
Early College
This program is designed for academically motivated and gifted students in high school or home school who wish to gain credit in advance towards a college degree. Participants join local Study Center cohorts in class sessions. Parental permission is required.
Today half of all college freshmen are enrolled in 2-year public institutions. This has created an opportunity for CCSI to develop The Bridge Program as a one-to-two-year opportunity designed to prepare students for their university experience, enriched by an interface with Christian scholarship.
The Bridge Program is not designed to compete with universities, but with community colleges. We believe that we can do a much better job equipping students for success in their pursuit of a university degree. Bridge students are encouraged to take some of their coursework at their local university to enrich their learning experience and to better prepare them for full immersion in a university program.
To date, CCSI has received positive reception of this program at the University of Colorado, Colorado State University and the University of Northern Colorado.
Courses feature a combination of online content (including real-time audio-visual lectures) and local, mentored cohort interaction.
Bridge students are encouraged to live in CCSI student residential communities where they combine living and learning together in a life- transforming experience.
The Peak Leadership Program is a unique nine-month experience designed for upper division college students and recent graduates who are committed to a path of personal excellence and influence. Features include:
* Residential life in a CCSI student community.
* 18 semester credits in Christian Studies designed to help shape a Christian worldview (with undergraduate and graduate options).
* A variety of assessment tools including personality, motivational, and behavioral analysis, resulting in a personal profile that helps students understand who they are as the workmanship of God, and that serves as a basis for measuring growth over the course of the program.
* One-on-one and cohort training with a certified life coach designed to help students focus, clarify, prioritize, and accomplish goals in a number of areas, including life purpose, career direction, discovering and honoring core values and strategic planning.
* Twenty-hour per week practical ministry experience with a Study Center, or a local church or para-church ministry.
Piper Certificate in Christian Studies
This learning opportunity is the equivalent of an academic minor, consisting of at least six courses from among the following: The Religion and Literature of Ancient Israel, The New Testament and Christian Origins, Elementary Greek 1 and 2, The Christian Tradition, History of Christianity, Christianity in American History, Christianity and Science, Introduction to Ethics, and Introduction to the Philosophy of Religion.
The curriculum is featured in the Bridge and Peak Leadership Programs. It is also open to university students, faculty and staff, and to other interested adults in the larger university community for credit or personal enrichment. Students who are concurrently enrolled full-time at a regionally accredited institution receive a significant tuition discount to make the courses affordable.
The Piper Certificate in Christian Studies is named for the family of Paul Piper who, through the CIOS Foundation, contributed generously to its formation.
