CENTERS FOR CHRISTIAN STUDY INTERNATIONAL

CCSI STUDY CENTERS

CCSI Study Centers are learning communities strategically located next to major universities. Study Centers include undergraduate students, graduate students, faculty, staff and local men and women who want to engage the mainstream academy and Christian perspectives in scholarship, and do it in the context of intentional community. Some participants may be enrolled in a CCSI program; others may be pursuing a degree from a local university; others are involved as life-long learners. Some live in a CCSI student residential facility; many others are part of a CCSI relational network in a university community. Some are involved in local advisory leadership for a Study Center, and others are adult mentors and host families for students.

Study Center activities and events feature formal academic coursework, lectures, conferences, concerts, recitals, drama and other artistic performances, movies, retreats, discussion groups, cohort and one-on-one mentoring, and, for followers of Christ, worship, fellowship, local and global outreach and service, and the many informal dimensions of life-in-community.

AFFILIATE CENTERS

Affiliate Study Centers are simply CCSI operating in a given location. Affiliates receive their funding through CCSI and are governed by CCSI’s board of directors, with local oversight by an approved advisory committee.

While every Affiliate Center is purposefully nuanced to its local context, the heart of every CCSI Study Center is its commitment to CCSI’s mission, vision, core values, statement of faith and overarching strategies.

In addition to academic programs, Affiliate Study Centers also offer conferences, seminars and public lectures on worldview issues, the rationality of the Christian faith, and dialogue and debate between Christianity and other ideologies in the marketplace of ideas at today’s university. Other venues may include small group discussion and one-on-one mentoring, movie critiques, guest lecturing in university classrooms, and apologetics speaking and writing.

Wherever possible Affiliates will be residential Centers, with student communities in former Greek houses or similar facilities.

Currently CCSI has Affiliate Study Centers in Boulder and Fort Collins, Colorado, and is  seeking to establish them in Norman and Stillwater, Oklahoma.

ASSOCIATE CENTERS

Associate Study Centers involve like-minded organizations in university communities with which CCSI partners by making its unique resources and services available.  Organizations may include local churches, campus ministries, and independent study centers.  Currently CCSI has an Associate Center in Weatherford, Oklahoma.

CATALYTIC CENTERS

Catalytic Centers make use of CCSI resources and services in a university community, relying on local personnel in advance of a salaried director.

CCSI seeks to partner with local churches and campus ministries in university communities in advance of the placement of a CCSI Director and staff.  A local advisory committee will be established to network with local ministries and prepare the way for CCSI staff.  Applications for Catalytic Centers are being sought.
